“Throw us a bone”
The month is longer than the paycheck.
This artworks was born out of the feeling of helplessness, if you’re not born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you’re scrapping the bottom of the barrel. When Paulina turned 16, she got her first job in catering, serving canapés and champagne at an event where the watches for sale cost more than a house. Working for £5.25 an hour that day felt so absurd, even the gold leafed leftovers she took home couldn’t sweeten the bitter taste from that day.
Produced with fineliners: 0.05mm and 0.2mm, it took over 200 hours to create.
Scroll to the bottom to read the ridiculous thing Paulina overheard serving canapés to rich people.
Father and son refused a canapé, and pointing at a £250k watch the dad says
“What about this one son?”
“I already have that one daddy.”
